City Life

As a remedy to life in society, I would suggest the big city. Nowadays, it is the only desert within our means.
— Albert Camus

I grew up in a large city but spent most of my life in suburbia. Everything has pros and cons, and I find city life attractive. In small doses. The grass is always greener on the other side, but after a weekend in a bustling metropolis, I urgently need to look at some trees and squirrels.

Being an introvert, I find city photography challenging. I’m just not very comfortable sticking my camera in people’s faces. And people’s faces are difficult to avoid in a city. And so I take quick sneaky potshots, hoping I got the aperture and exposure right and everything is in focus as intended. It rarely is. But the results are sometimes surprising and are well worth the effort.
